Gary Dunlop is a consultant with more than 30 years’ experience in structural repair and refurbishment. He is a Chartered Member of the CIOB and has worked on a wide range of civil engineering projects across the UK, managing contracts of varying size and complexity. His early career began on site as a labourer and concrete repair operative in a family-run business. Over time, he progressed through supervisory roles into full-time management, gaining a practical understanding of the challenges faced during delivery.

He has led projects involving major structural repairs, cathodic protection systems, and the refurbishment of concrete and steel assets. These works have taken place across sectors such as marine infrastructure, highways, reservoirs, wind farms, MOD facilities, and clean water storage. Gary has acted as both subcontractor and principal contractor on contracts lasting from one week to almost a year, with values ranging from £10,000 to £2 million.

His responsibilities have included programming, estimating, procurement, subcontractor coordination, commercial reporting, and managing performance across safety, environmental, and quality targets. He is well-versed in NEC3, NEC4, and JCT contracts and regularly liaises with clients, suppliers, and site teams to maintain consistent project outcomes.

Gary is known for building strong working relationships and supporting teams to meet high standards under demanding conditions. He draws on his site background to make informed decisions and deliver projects that are both safe and efficient. In recent years, he has maintained close working ties with major clients through repeat business and long-term frameworks.

His technical knowledge is supported by a strong grasp of industry systems, materials, and compliance procedures. He is proficient in Microsoft Office and various programming tools, and is experienced in carrying out audits across commercial, safety, and quality functions. As a manager and consultant, Gary provides dependable support throughout the planning, delivery, and review stages of every contract.
