Hydrodemolition Project

Hydrodemolition (2800 bar @ 26lpm) and steel cleaning to a NACE WJ-3 profile

The Project involved the deterioration of concrete, known as “Concrete Cancer”, which needed to be removed in order to carry out concrete repairs.

Challenge

Working tidal shifts was the biggest challenge, as starting times were always different. With starts at 03h00 or 16h00, we had to work with the tides under the harbour’s pier.

Solution

Ammlee Group supplied a 2800 bar @ 26lpm water jetting unit and a two-man crew to hand-lance areas marked for removal as robotic hydrodemolition was not possible due to access and short low tides.

Result

Our hydrodemolition contractors completed the project one month before the original target date and received a very good review from Grahams.
